Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Technical Project Manager (Construction) is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of construction projects from planning through completion. This includes coordinating with engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required technical specifications and quality standards. The role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of construction processes, and the ability to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Planning and Coordination:
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resources, and budget allocations.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure design and construction meet technical and safety requirements.
• Oversee the preparation of technical drawings, schematics, and other construction documentation.
• Budgeting and Cost Control:
• Manage the project budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources and procurement of materials.
• Monitor expenses, approve change orders, and ensure financial targets are met.
• Report regularly to stakeholders on project financial status and address cost overruns.
• Scheduling and Resource Management:
• Create and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring that all milestones and deadlines are met.
• Allocate resources, including labor and materials, to meet project goals efficiently.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Quality and Compliance:
• Ensure that construction processes comply with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards and technical specifications.
• Address any issues related to defects, reworks, or compliance in a timely manner.
• Risk Management and Problem Solving:
• Identify potential risks and challenges during the planning phase and develop mitigation strategies.
• Resolve any technical issues that arise during construction, coordinating with the design and engineering teams as needed.
• Address and resolve conflicts between stakeholders, contractors, or teams to maintain project progress.
• Communication and Stakeholder Management:
• Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Provide regular progress reports and updates to senior management, clients, and investors.
• Facilitate project meetings, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Project Documentation:
• Maintain accurate records of all project-related documents, including contracts, drawings, and correspondence.
• Ensure timely submission of reports, project updates, and documentation as required by regulatory bodies or internal stakeholders.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of project management experience in construction, with a proven track record of managing large-scale technical projects.
• Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification preferred.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction techniques, materials, and regulatory requirements.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera) and CAD software for technical drawing interpretation.
• Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide and motivate cross-functional teams.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders and clients.
