Job Title: Technical/Production Director

About the Organization:
About the Role:
The Technical/Production Director is a key leadership position responsible for all aspects of the organization’s technical and production operations. This includes overseeing all technical departments, ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of all productions, and managing budgets and resources effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership:
- Lead and manage all technical departments, including [list departments – e.g., lighting, sound, stage management, props, costumes, scenic design].
- Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of all technical equipment and systems.
- Develop and implement technical standards and best practices.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all technical staff and volunteers.
- Production Management:
- Oversee all aspects of production planning and execution, from initial concept to final performance.
- Develop and manage production budgets and schedules.
- Source and procure necessary materials and equipment.
- Supervise and mentor production staff and volunteers.
- Collaborate with artistic staff to bring creative visions to life.
- Resource Management:
- Manage the organization’s technical resources effectively, including equipment, personnel, and budget.
- Identify and secure funding for production needs.
- Explore and implement cost-saving measures.
- Facility Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the organization’s performance spaces and technical facilities.
- Ensure that all facilities meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Professional Development:
- Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies.
- Provide professional development opportunities for technical staff.
- Other Duties as Assigned:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Technical Theatre, or a related field (preferred).
- 5 years of professional experience in technical theatre or a related field.
- Proven leadership and management experience.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Budget management and financial planning experience.
