Job Description

Our client is a marine consulting company, looking to hire an Account Officer who is generally responsible for the proper and accurate capturing of all relevant transaction on the accounting software and ensuring that proper reconciliation and required report is submitted within the given timeline.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Process all invoices and purchase requisitions and ensure there are no delays in obtaining relevant approvals.
  • Raising of payments ensuring proper authorizations.
  • Assist with effective & efficient administration of finance operations.
  • Set up relevant vendor (supplier) accounts.
  • Prepare accurate statements, reports, and summaries of all the financial activities
  • Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
  • Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted
  • Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
  • Reconciliation of GR/IR, other Account Payable GL Balances and Vendors down payment and submission of a weekly report on these activities.
  • Generate reports detailing accounts payables status
  • Understand expense accounts and cost centers
  • Posting of Month-end Closing Journals for – Accruals, Prepayments, Amortization etc
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Maintain historical records by filing documents

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • A Chartered Accountant with minimum of 2 years post-qualification
  • A minimum of 3-5 years working experience of which at least 2 years must be in Accounts Payable function
  • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Use of accounting software in previous working environment
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Any other task as may assigned by Accounts Payable Manager.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₦180,00.00 – ₦220,00.00 per month
